Cancionero dime tu... VIII

Por extraño que parezca existió un corto lapso de tiempo en el que Sylvester Stallone tuvo cierto aire a actor de los grandes (básicamente por Rocky I y Rambo I), ya después el mismo se encargó de despejar toda duda y alejar estos aires, pero esto hizo que fuera de los más influyentes durante buena parte de los 80's. Para la tercera parte de Rocky, el tema musical principal de la película fue creado explícitamente por petición de Stallone al grupo Survivor, la canción llevó por título Eye of the tiger. Es por demás decir que esta canción es icónica de los 80's.

Además de que la canción me gusta por como suena, le guardo cierto dejo de nostalgia-cariño a esta canción, ya que cuando aún estudiaba la carrera, durante cerca de 1 año (sería por el 2000 o 2001 más o menos) coincidí en horarios con varios compañeros que eran del mismo rancho que yo, así que aprovechando que uno tenía coche, me les pegaba. Cuando salíamos y veníamos de regreso, de repente salía un disco con esta canción (aún no eran tan populares los reproductores personales), no faltaba que el que iba manejando se pusiera a payasear un poco con el coche (claro, lo que permitía un datsun setenta y tantos con media tonelada de gente encima) y pasábamos buenos ratos, por cierto durante cierto tiempo y de rebote extraño de la vida, tuve contacto con ese datsunsito un tiempo después de haber terminado la escuela.

Es una canción hard rock del grupo de rock estadounidense Survivor, y pertenece al álbum del mismo nombre. Salió al mercado el 29 de mayo de 1982 y fue escrita a petición de Sylvester Stallone para la película Rocky III por Frankie Sullivan y Jim Peterik e incluida en la banda sonora de la misma.
